The Audiovisual and Multimedia Innovation Network (RIAM),
founded in France in 2001, has several objectives.
A primary goal is to develop programming industries
in the audiovisual and multimedia fields, through the
creation of innovative tools resulting from public
and private sector research. RIAM aims to integrate
these tools into the production chain.
The network also aims to motivate the group of participants (public research
laboratories, industrial companies – including both small businesses and
large corporations - creators, producers, editors, broadcasters, operators, trainers
and investors), to propose research priorities with a view to establishing links
between the innovative technology and the creation of content, between information
technology and communication, between human and social sciences, and between
economic and legal fields. Finally, it aims to ensure that national actions are
combined with the European interventions.
Three ministries are associated with financing the network: the Ministry of Economy,
Finance and Industry; the Ministry of Culture and Communication; and the Ministry
of Youth, National Education and Research.
