| The city of
Arles, representative of the image industry in France,
is today committed to the development of an influential
regional technology park orientated towards new digital
media. The establishment of the "Médiapôle
/ St Césaire" resource centre in the heart
of the city, and the new "Digital Workshops" are
at the forefront of this major programme of urban and
regional development. These initiatives are strongly
supported by numerous participants; businesses and independent
inhabitants of the city, thereby creating this economic,
creative and artistic dynamic.
In October 2003, an association
was created involving entrepreneurs from Arles, designers,
producers and publishers
of multimedia content. The “Digital and Cultural
Industries’ Association” will enable their
common skills to be grouped together and channelled towards
promoting, representing and animating the digital and
cultural industries in the region of Arles.
This association
is supported by the Conseil Régional,
le Conseil Général 13, the Chamber of Commerce
and Industry and the city of Arles. It assembles internationally
influential companies, such as ACTES SUD, HARMONIA MUNDI,
GROUPE F, as well as numerous small and medium-sized
businesses. These include ART GRAPHIQUE et PATRIMOINE,
ATTRACTIVE PRODUCTION, DIGITAL DELUXE, POLE SUD Multimédia.
Through their creativity and reactivity, these companies
contribute to the economic vivacity of the Technology
and Digital Communication centre, and to the cultural
enrichment of Arles.
At present 15 companies have already
joined this group. They aim to identify, structure and
promote the production
of cultural content designed or distributed through digital
technology at the regional, national and international
levels. These companies are agencies specialising in
creation, communication, Web design, information and
communication technology strategies and advice, interactive
scenography, editing and digital post production.
The
Digital and Cultural Industries’ Association,
therefore, aims to promote the development of initiatives
and collaborative projects, and to participate actively
in the construction of the centre of expertise known
as "Digital Arles".
The members of this group should enable the productive
and artistic capacities of the businesses in Arles to
be better known, so that they can be identified and represented
in the growing sector of new on-line communication technology
and digital media. The companies will therefore be capable
of entering new markets, of being present in multiple
networks and of engaging their skills in other regional
and European projects.
